The Follatères is a naturally protected site near Martigny / Valais, about a 10 minute bus- or car-drive from the station in Martigny. It’s so amazing to visit the Follatères in the middle of the Winter. Here are  my 5 reasons I went there last Friday:

• You will find a Mediterranean climate
• Very few people visit this place, so there’s no problem with parking AND walking
• Because it is South facing it’s almost Spring in Wintertime
• The calm during your walk makes you feel like being in another world and invites you to meditation
• And finally, by the end of January, the first Bulbocone are out (Photo 1), the Valais is the only place in Switzerland where you can find them.
